Speaker:
Passage: Hebrews 1:1-4
Service Type:

PART 1/2 Mervyn Hall briefly introduces the theme of the first two chapters of the epistle to the Hebrews, likening them to the two pillars of the ancient temple. He then examines the seven-fold presentation of the Son of God in all His glory seen in Hebrews 1:2-3, carefully defending the deity of Christ in a day when this is a much attacked truth.

  • The established heir - "whom He hath appointed heir of all things"
  • The creator of the universe - "By whom also He made the worlds"
  • The effulgence of glory - "Who being the brightness of His glory"
  • The image of God - "The express image of His person"
  • The upholder of all things - "Upholding all things by the word of His power"
  • The sin-purger - "by Himself purged our sins"
  • The seated one - "sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high"
