Our Spirtual Garden
Our Spiritual Garden
“I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding; And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down. Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.”
Proverbs 24 v 30-32
As we see the openings in lockdowns appear and the final regulation shackles begin to fall now is a good time to review our garden, our spiritual garden.
In lockdown or maybe during the last twelve months you may have let your spiritual garden fall into disrepair. Your daily Bible time has now been overgrown by the cares and concerns of the day. The once clear path of reading a daily passage of scripture has been “all grown over” with the “thorns and nettles” of the world.
With little interaction with our fellow man over the last year, we may have had our Christian enthusiasm dampened and our spiritual “stone wall” of testimony and growth has taken a battering during the weather of the last year.
However, as our verse states “Then I saw, and considered it well”, let us NOW take this opportunity to have a spiritual reawakening and reflect on where we are spiritually. Let’s “receive instruction” from our passage of the Bible and review our spiritual garden.
Let’s, with the help from the Lord, cultivate and cut back the overgrown non-spiritual elements of our life, clear the unprofitable clutter we have amassed and repair and build up our “broken down” stone wall with thoughts of Him and His Word.
Let’s continue, with new vigour, to sow the good Word of God, share Christ with others and as we water the Word with our prayers let’s look to the Lord for fruit.
