PART 1/3 Michael Penfold opens a three part series on "What Every Christian Should Know" by carefully preaching from 1 John 5:13 on the assurance of salvation. He begins by explaining that the truth of eternal security answers 'can you lose it?' and the truth of assurance answers 'have I got it?'.

From John's first epistle, he then outlines three tests that John gives to know you have eternal life:

1. The Doctrinal Test - "believeth"
2. The Moral Test - "doeth"
3. The Social Test - "loveth"
